9 Brama
Rynek 39/40, Wroclaw
Tel: +48 71 343 92 95
Web: www.9brama.pl

This one is a classic. It’s been around for a couple of years and during that time it managed to earn a reputation of a very nice place for a Saturday night out. The age average is about 30, so you are sure that the guests are not the “young and wild” type. Bare brick walls and a few bars here and there make it look like an old dungeon. Nice drinks, but slow service.

Alibi Club
ul. Grunwaldzka 67, Wroclaw
Tel: +48 71 328 29 53
Web: www.alibi.com.pl

It is worth mentioning at the beginning that Wroclaw is considered to be a students’ city. Just like a bigger version of Oxford or Cambridge. OK, since we have made this clear, what you need to do after coming there is find one of those students and ask them about the best night club in Wroclaw. 99 per cent of them will instantly reply – ALIBI! Even though it is placed off the centre, it is surrounded by local student hostels which supply it with never-ending numbers of beer thirsty guests. During the years the club has been changing its profile from a small and smoked out rock club to a spacious night club with R&B, pop and dance music. I have to say that personally, as a former student, I will never ever forget this betrayal – changing Nirvana to Rhianna? No, thank you.

Altana Pub
ul. Kotlarska 40, Wroclaw
Tel: +48 71 372 57 43

A very cosy pub just off the market square. It offers a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere and variety of drinks. The best and probably most unique are drinks made from beer and different fruit juices such as kiwi or pineapple. Staff is very friendly and can sometimes play your CD with favourite records if you smile to them and generally behave nice. One of many reasons why this pub is so popular among ever-thirsty students.

Bezsennosc Club
ul. Ruska 51, Wroclaw
Tel: +48 71 792 80 48
Web: www.bezsennosc.wroclaw.pl

Bezsennosc means “insomnia” and if you ever suffered one, you might as well come here. One thing is sure – this place never sleeps. Parties have got the tendency to last very long, until the break of dawn. Bezsennosc is also different from other clubs in respect that it wants to be something more than just an average nightclub. The unique décor and strange mix of dance and alternative music attracts unusual types of customers. I do not talk about any psychopaths, but rather artists and people who do not like the mainstream. In a place like this you are bound to meet some interesting personalities. Nice break from boring discotheques.

Café Mańana
ul.Sw. Mikolaja 11, Wroclaw
Tel: +48 71 343 43 70

A small cameral club hidden on the first floor of an old tenement house on one of the Market back streets. Even though it might seem hard to find, every day it’s packed to the brim. Once you are there you may either hate it or love it. People who chose the latter, did it for the following reasons: 1. Atmosphere – forget about the disco-style dance floor, but rather expect a cozy and warm décor, old sofas and tight spaces between them that people use to dance. Reason number two – people. Mostly in their thirties, but also some students. Lots of singles and foreigners, too. The third reason is the music – interesting mix of various styles from Reggae to Latino. The only downside of the whole place is its capacity. It is simply 'too popular' - people are swarming in at all times, especially over weekends. However, on the whole, all of the above make it one of the best clubs in town. <Agnes>

Celtic Pub
ul.Ruska 51, Wroclaw
Tel: +48 71 344 34 25
Web: www.celtic.wroc.pl

Celtic Pub is located in the unofficial “entertainment centre” of Wroclaw i.e. Pasaz Niepolda enclosure. It’s a place for people who like smart and cozy interiors and nice music – a mix of current top hits with the music of the eighties. In other words, there is a little something for everyone. The dance floor is quite spacious and not overcrowded. Celtic Pub is a perfect place for a small get-together with a group of friends – you can freely talk and even eat some fancy food, as Celtic is an unusual mixture of a club and a restaurant. <Agnes>

Czeski Film Pub
ul. Kielbasnicza 2, Wroclaw
Tel: +48 71 342 25 49

“Czeski Film” is a funny Polish saying meaning that something simply doesn’t make sense, just like “a movie made in Czech Republic” (that’s true – try and watch one yourself. Absolute bonkers!). Fortunately, the pub does make sense and is really worth visiting. On the ground floor you will find café, where you can try some delicious cakes, fruit cocktails, teas or coffees. Downstairs is reserved for some real pub lovers. There you can drink one of the best beers in the world (and I don’t mean Carlsberg, but rather Pilsner Urquell) and listen to some hard rock music. Usually the pub is full of young people, who are really friendly and surprisingly (!) open to foreigners so even if you come alone the chance is you will leave in company.

Daytona
Rynek 35-37, Wroclaw
Tel: +48 71 344 10 79
Web: www.daytona.pl

Japanese used to say that when you don’t have anything nice to say about someone or something, better keep it to yourself. But this is a Polish website dedicated to Polish clubs and this rule does not apply to it. Daytona Club – it is hard to classify it. Personally I put it on the same shelf as Radio Bar in terms of music, atmosphere and clientele. Some people like it, but bear in mind a few facts: It’s easy to get into a fight with some drunk and husky young men and it is easy to find some promiscuous girls judging you by the thickness of your wallet. R’n’B and Hip Hop are the dominating genres of music and eighteen is the dominating age. I bet some of you will find it inviting.

Firlej
Grabiszynska 56, Wroclaw
Tel: +48 71 795 66 67
www: www.firlej.wroc.pl

Firlej is a unique club for the truly artistic souls. It is very different from typical night clubs in Wroclaw. It plays alternative music from all varieties of genres – jazz, rock, industrial and more. If you are an artist or just tired of the pop-culture, Firlej is the place to be. I am sure that you will feel great in a company of open minded people, listing to some truly “alternative” concerts held there quite often.

Jazz Club Rura
ul. Lazienna 4, Wroclaw
Tel: +48 71 799 09 07
Web: www.jazzklubrura.art.pl

If you like Jazz music you will love this club. After many years of earning its reputation, it has become a legend of Polish jazz scene. Fantastic music, atmosphere, friendly guests and frequent live concerts make the Jazz Club Rura a very popular place for all the Jazz fans. If the name – Tomasz Stanko means anything to you, I don’t have to encourage you any longer.

Liverpool
ul. Swidnicka 37, Wroclaw
Tel: +48 71 344 87 27
Web:www.liverpool.wroclaw.pl

Here is something for true rock fans. A club which is entirely dedicated to hard rock and metal music. They play all the rock hits from 80s and 90s, as well as some modern rock songs. It’s mostly a sitting place, but if you want to jump around to House of Pain song, there is a designated area where you can freely express your emotions by jumping onto others.

Metropolis
ul. Ruska 51, Wroclaw
Tel: +48 71 343 13 73
Web: www.metropolis.wroc.pl

Two in one. There is this ultra-hyper-futuristic night club with all the flashy lights, lasers, stroboscopic lights, ultraviolet lights and, oh - did I mention lights?  Yes, so as you can guess, it’s quite bright and spacious. And loud - two levels of a proper trance, house, trip-hop and drum’n’bass music for all the hard core clubbers. However, there is also a pretty quiet pub located on the underground level (that explains “two in one” sentence), where you can just sit back and relax, trying to listen to calmer music ignoring all this bouncing and shaking coming from above.

Nautilius
ul Piotra Skargi 18, Wroclaw
Tel: +48 501 418 732

Used to be known as Szalass – a hip hop club for young and angry “gangstas” with the age average of 18. Last year, however, it has undergone a full re-branding, changing its profile completely. Now its interior looks like a submarine (thus the name…). The music is mostly house and electro, but also it is probably the only club in town where you can hear Disco-Polo songs(!). Disco Polo is a rare and unexplainable phenomenon of Poland – cheesy lyrics and simple music mixed with tackiness of clothes and haircuts make it the most characteristic creation of the Polish music industry. And for that particular reason I strongly recommend this club to any foreigner visiting Wroclaw!

No Name
ul Wita Stwosza 30, Wroclaw
Tel:  +48 71 343 21 40

Interesting club located in a stylish cellar and a place very popular among Wroclaw’s students, who constitute the majority of the guests. No Name has got plenty of space (two dance halls) and diverse music guarantee an all-night long party. Particularly interesting part of the place is their ‘summer garden’, where you can feel like on a tropical – floor covered in sand and palm trees with designated wooden dancing platform. A place definitely worth a visit. <Agnes>

Novocaina
Rynek 13, Wroclaw
Tel: +48 71 343 69 15
Web: www.novocaina.com

A very new and very exclusive nightclub located at the corner of Market Square. It can hold up to 250 people. Generally considered as one of the trendiest places in Wroclaw – you can meet there the elite of city clubbers. Prices are slightly higher than in surrounding pubs, but they are justified by interesting décor, tasty drinks and good music.

Od Zmierzchu Do Switu
ul. Krupnicza 15, Wroclaw
Tel. +48 71 796 30 76
Web: www.odzmierzchudoswitu.pl

Have you ever seen a club from the movie “From Dusk Till Down” by Robert Rodriquez? It’s pretty much the same, just without the vampires. Big rock club where you can enjoy a pint of beer listing to some good, old rock. Very often music is played live by some upcoming rock bands. Fantastic atmosphere to meet friendly people and relax drinking gallons of cold beer. There is a dance floor just by the stage, where you can dance or jump according to what is currently played. Place for rock-loving, old-school guys (preferably with long, red beards). Rock and roll, man!

Pod Zielonym Kogutem
pl. Teatralny 8, Wroclaw
Tel:  +48 71 342 01 87

Under a Green Cock – despite its dubious name, it is one of the nicest pubs in Wroclaw. It’s actually a pub that turns into a nightclub during the weekend when they open the basement with the dance floor and plenty of room to sit. Of course if your dancing skills lack, as they call it, “smoothness” you can stay upstairs and enjoy peaceful chat listing to music played life almost every Saturday. Great place to visit – really. The prices are decent, beer is cold and tasty, women beautiful and men friendly. The best recommendation – I met my wife there!

PRL
Rynek 10, Wroclaw
Tel: +48 71 342 55 26
Web: www.prl.wroc.pl

Have you ever heard about Communism? If you ever wondered what it looked like, PRL is the place for you. Even the club’s name gives you a faint idea what you can expect inside (PRL stands for Polish People’s Republic). When you enter the place, immediately you are taken back in time to 1970s, with all the propaganda posters and socialistic décor that create a unique atmosphere. Two level club with underground part for dancing and the ground floor for a pint of beer and maybe some karaoke singing.

Pub 7 Kotow
ul. Sw. Mikolaja 8-11, Wroclaw
Tel: +48 71 341 04 88

Slightly hard to find, as it is located at the back of the high street, pub “7 Kotow” is a fantastic place for a quiet and friendly chat. It can hold around 120 people, with a designated non-smoking area for those who do not wish to stink with cigarettes after a while. Very nice ambiance with colourful walls and shaded lights make you feel almost at home. There are plenty of drinks to choose from, but also some delicious non-alcoholic beverages such as hot chocolate with cherries and fruit tea with raisins.

Pub Za Szyba
ul. Sw. Antoniego 15, Wroclaw
Tel: +48 71 344 34 45

It used to be my favourite club when I was around 18. I still think it is great. Surprisingly, its small size does not make it a crowded place, but rather creates a friendly home-like atmosphere as if you knew everyone there (but this opinion maybe influenced by the sentiments from my youth). DJs play various music with Hip Hop and R’n’B dominating. However, you might sometimes hear some old hits from Michael Jackson or Madonna. Not much else to say, just go and see it yourself.

Radio Bar
Rynek 48, Wroclaw
Tel: +48 71 372 50 13
Web: www.radio-bar.pl

OK, so how am I supposed to start this review? Do you like young and promiscuous girls? Do you like big guys on steroids or the ones with a lot of hair gel? If you answered yes to one of these questions, Radio Bar is the place for you. There is not much more to be said apart from the fact that music is decent and that’s basically it. I am sure that some people will disagree, but as I mentioned many times before – this is my personal opinion. The only good thing I find about this club is the location – just below pizza hut, so if you’re hungry you can go upstairs and have some pizza.

Stript Club – Pruderia
pl. Solidarnosci,  Wroclaw
Tel: +48 71 781 01 36
Web: www.pruderia.com.pl

Finally! A review that some of you were waiting for – the first proper Wroclaw strip club. And it is very nice, indeed. Before coming to the point (that is – girls), let me tell you about other things, like décor, drinks, atmosphere, service and all that. The club is new, stylised to look like a place from 1920s and 30s, fully air conditioned with plenty of room inside. Prices are not cheap, but who cares about prices in a place like that? It is NOT an average strip joint but rather an exclusive club for gentlemen. And those gentlemen who end up there will be charmed with beautiful girls dancing on the poles (notice the small “p” in poles – not to be mistaken with Polish people). They are really stunning and surprisingly professional (in terms of dancing, of course). Every night there are about 10-12 girls dancing one after another to various songs, with not much clothes on.

Stript Club – GoGo
pl. Orlat Lwowskich 20a, Wroclaw
Tel: +48 71 717 53 23
Web: www.gogo.pl

A strip club that is a direct competitor of earlier established Pruderia. Here, you can also find amazing looking Polish girls, good drinks and nice atmosphere. Everything that a guy would expect from a place like this. Don’t mistake it for a brothel, as it is a nice and civilized gentleman club and the only thing you can do is watch, not touch. Located in the direct vicinity of Wagon Pub at the heart of old railway station, it’s easy to reach from Wroclaw city centre. Ask any cab driver and he’ll know the way.

Studio P1
ul. Szewska 3a, Wroclaw
Tel: +48 71 370 69 41
Web: www.p1.pl

It’s big. It’s trendy. It’s expensive. One of the clubs that one needs to visit to be really “cool”. The guest are usually in there late twenties/early thirties, so the atmosphere is pretty pleasant and peaceful. Huge dance floor and plenty of space to sit. One of the biggest clubs in Wroclaw. Drinks are lovely, women as well.

Szuflada
ul. Swidnicka 13, Wroclaw
Tel: +48 71 341 84 63

Its name means simply “a drawer”, but if you have ever seen one it is probably slightly different from this club. For a start there is much more space and no dirty socks (or magazines for that matter). Szuflada is a very nice night club, where each weekend plenty of young people come to dance and generally enjoy themselves with a little help of their friends and maybe a bit of alcohol. Used to be one of the trendiest clubs in Wroclaw a couple of years ago, but even nowadays it strangely attracts vast numbers of beautiful Polish girls.

Tabasco
Rynek 26/27, Wroclaw
Tel: +48 71 346 89 44
Web: www.tabasco.com.pl

Here is something new in Wroclaw – a Mexican night club. If you are a big fan of Latin America and Latino lovers you will love this place. Stylised to look truly “Mexican”, with majority of drinks taken out from the movie “From Dusk Till Dawn” (that is tequilas!). Unlike the movie though, there are no vampires - just a bunch of fun loving people with a lot of beautiful girls among them. Apart from all these, it is a very trendy night club with about 100 places, skilful DJs and professional service.

Wagon Club
pl. Orląt Lwowskich 20a
Tel. +48 71 341 29 48
Mob. +48 502 041 480
www.wagonclub.com

Wow! This is very unusual. In a positive way, of course. A night club / pub made from old carriages of a train located in the heart of the former train station. It looks like a train and feels like a train – with all the industrial props and paintings that remind me of a mixture between Thomas the Tank Engine and Aliens. It is divided into three parts – the basement (looking quite “usual”), the beer garden outside and finally two carriages converted into a club. The music is also unique - dominating styles like breakcore, hardtek, acid techno and minimal - just to mention a few. Professional service and affordable prices make up for its “off the market square” location. A definitely “must-go” place in Wroclaw!
